In September 2017 I started a series about dance and movement. For this series I have been drawing and painting at Art Campus De Singel in Antwerp for several seasons. Thanks to Vincent Willems, Performing Arts Production, I had the opportunity to attend final rehearsals of Anna Theresa de Keersmaeker en Rosas, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui en Eastman, Wim Vandekeybus, Compagnie Seydou Boro, Eko Supriyanto,…. All works have been created in the dark, the stage at times offering a dim light. These circumstances allowed me to work instinctively by touch. Therefore, I did not have any control of the result. Consequently, I started to feel more and more set free while I was working. Thanks to the contact with these dance companies, I also had the opportunity to work during a dance workshop in the studios of Wim Vandekeybus in Molenbeek and during a dance workshop by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Eastman.

Both catching a movement and creating an impression of the tension between dancers has been my starting point all the way. By doing so, both the dancers’ performances and my creations on paper gradually started to form a symbiosis.
